Massek Advanced Arms 023 'Gungnir' Shortshot Artillery Rifle:

Developed by the Massek Advanced Arms Corporation under contract with the UEC for the Human-Alarie War, the MAA-023 'Gungnir' saw very limited deployment in the conflict's final months. The weapon was designed to deliver a one shot, one kill guarantee against an armored Alaerin target at ranges typically achievable by artillery, but flexible and mobile enough for use by a Human infantryman.
Against the Alaereen, it performed as expected, but was retired swiftly upon the declaration of peace. Of the twenty units produced, only eighteen were accounted for, with the Alaereen claiming to never having captured any of these weapons. It is feared that the missing units may have been sold on the black market or found their way into the hands of the Scavengers or SNL.

The way I intended its use, it can be fired as either a sniper weapon from the prone position or angled up and locked for use as a mortars. For the latter, a forward observer or satellite GPS would be required.

That is definately a ridiculous-ass gun. The kind of gun Chuck Norris would probably dual-wield while shooting dinosaurs, or something (I give you, the most random description EVER lol). The word "overkill" comes to mind....but given its targets are going to be either giant armored aliens, or possibly mechs or tanks (if its used in other conflicts), there really isn't a such thing as overkill, I guess.

I would definately be concerned about those missing two if the scavvies got them. They're crafty enough to start reverse engineering them and making their own.

There is no 'overkill, only 'open fire' and 'time to reload'. :)
Seriously, though, it was expected that the war would last longer than it did and given who and what the enemy were, MAA Corp determined that arms escalation was inevitable. They designed the 023 'Gungnir' to outlast any countermeasures or responses the Alaereen might field.
Further, should the Vornin become a threat to the UEC in the near future, the 023 can be brought back into production as a stop-gap weapon until something better can be develped.
